王力（1900—1986），字了一，广西博白县人。1927年毕业于清华大学国学研究院，1931年在巴黎大学获博士学位。归国后，先后任教于清华大学、中山大学、岭南大学，1954年以后长期任教于北京大学。王力是中国语言学泰斗之一。他学贯中西，综合中国传统语言学和西方语言学，在汉语语音学、语法学、词汇学上都建立了影响深远的学术体系。另外，他还在中国语言学史研究、汉语诗律学研究、字典编纂、语言文字改革、汉语教育等方面做出了卓越贡献。语言学以外，他还从事法国文学翻译、诗词散文创作等。
