本书是笔者申请并于2006年被批准立项的*人文社会科学研究一般项目《社区矫正比较研究》（项目批准号：06JA820005）的终成果。同时，在研究的过程中，还得到*“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”的资助，当笔者入选2007年度*“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”时，即将本课题的研究和本书的写作列为该计划的成果之一，因为对于这样一个花费巨大的研究项目而言，仅仅靠*人文社会科学研究一般项目划拨的一点资金，是无法进行下去的。
