統讀十三篇，以主德始，以妙算終，此孫子之微言大義也。其每篇標題之字，亦不過如「學而」、「雍也」之類，勿庸刻舟求劍。他本《計篇》、《形篇》、《勢篇》有作《始計篇》、《軍形篇》、《軍勢篇》者，殊未當也。《勢篇》之首以奇正虛實對舉，而下文專論奇正，頗似制藝中上全下偏體裁。若欲與《虛實篇》對待標題，則即題為「奇正篇」亦可也。然古人決不如此板滯，亦「學而」、「雍也」之意而已。世儒見「九變」、「九地」兩「九」字對舉，遂指「九變」為九地之變。膠柱鼓瑟，滯礙甚多，均辭而闢之矣。
