扬雄《方言》是我国部收集古今方国殊言别语的语言学著作，它的出现标志着中国古代方言学的诞生。明清以前，《方言》传本——郭注本经过一千五百多年的传抄翻刻，“讹舛相承，几不可通”。明清时期出现多个《方言》校注本，另有王念孙散见于各类著作中的《方言》遗说，以及晚清以降一些学者著作中所涉《方言》的条校条释内容，我们将这些材料加以收集整理，作为《古代方言文献丛刊》第二辑推出。 本书以王念孙手校明本《方言》、手校戴震《方言疏证》、《方言疏证补》、《广雅疏证》、《读书杂志》、《经义述闻》等王氏父子全部传世著作为辑录范围，选择各部著作版本，在逐字逐句阅读中辑录其中校勘《方言》的成果和引用《方言》的内容，分列于《方言》原文相应条目之下，条内按王氏著作时间顺序编次。所辑内容均加以断句、标，并核校引文。书后附笔画索引，以便读者使用。
