After her divorce, Charlene Dugan vowed never to get married again—a promise she has kept for twenty-five years. Until the fateful day she finds herself uttering the well-known phrase—let’s get married! Almost immediately Charlene’s seemingly perfect life begins unraveling at the seams. Daughter Stephanie's own relationship is about to disintegrate, and she might be just a teensy weensy jealous of her mom. And Charlene seems to be spending more time with her ex-husband than with her fiancé, Dennis. What’s more confusing is that Dennis doesn’t seem to mind too much. In fact, he sees the wedding consultant more often than Charlene does. The wedding party is now officially out of control. They're calling for rain and the bride has cold feet. This isn’t exactly what Charlene had in mind. But maybe it's not too late to finally decide on who and what she really wants.

Rose Zarelli, self-proclaimed word geek and angry girl, has some CONFESSIONS to make… #1: I'm livid all the time. Why? My dad died. My mom barely talks. My brother abandoned us. I think I'm allowed to be irate, don't you? #2: I make people furious regularly. Want an example? I kissed Jamie Forta, a badass guy who might be dating a cheerleader. She is now enraged and out for blood. Mine. #3: High school might as well be Mars. My best friend has been replaced by an alien, and I see red all the time. (Mars is red and "seeing red" means being angry—get it?) Here are some other vocab words that describe my life: Inadequate. Insufferable. Intolerable. (Don't know what they mean? Look them up yourself.) (Sorry. That was rude.)

“You told me you don’t like to be in one place too long,” Marianne said. Ridge noticed that she was watching him intently. “You miss things that way." “Such as?” He shrugged. “Friends. Dogs. Having a place to come back to at the end of the day that doesn’t charge you when you walk in the door.” He could tell she hadn’t expected that. “You like Harland, then?” “Very much.” There was plenty to like about the close-knit community on and around the farm. Because Ridge didn’t know how to say that without spooking her, he settled on something less personal. “Little things mean a lot when you don’t have them.” She eyed him with something resembling respect, which he took as a good sign. Marianne was by far the most mistrustful woman he’d ever met. He still wasn’t sure why he was trying so hard to get through to her, and he had to wonder if his genetic stubbornness was steering him down a rocky, dead-end road.

In his "Ghostly little book," Charles Dickens invents the modern concept of Christmas Spirit and offers one of the world’s most adapted and imitated stories. We know Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, not only as fictional characters, but also as icons of the true meaning of Christmas in a world still plagued with avarice and cynicism.

Did you ever find yourself at a dead—end, not knowing where to go, or which way to turn? I’m sure Steve Jobs did, or Bill Gates, or Leonardo da Vinci, or Ben Franklin, or any of our twelve presidents who didn’t have degrees. But that didn’t stop them. They didn’t give up. They gathered their wits, made a plan, and persevered. And look where it got them!? Not everyone becomes a billionaire, obviously, but it *is* achievable. Many of the people in this book did it. You can too. ?
Thérèse Raquin

Emile Zola
¥4.41
Thérèse Raquin is a novel by ?mile Zola, first published in 1867. It was originally published in serial format in the journal L'Artiste. It was published in book format in December of the same year. In 1873, Zola turned Thérèse Raquin into a play. Thérèse Raquin tells the story of a young woman, unhappily married to her first cousin by a well-intentioned and overbearing aunt. Her cousin, Camille, is sickly and selfish, and when the opportunity arises, Thérèse enters into a tragic affair with one of Camille's friends, Laurent. In his preface, Zola explains that his goal in this novel was to "study temperaments and not characters" and he compares the novel to a scientific study. Because of this detached and scientific approach, Thérèse Raquin is considered an example of Naturalism.

More Misused Words contains a lot of the same words that Misused Words I and II did, but so much more. In More Misused Words, we address even more redundancies, absolutes, capitals, eponyms, flat adverbs (everybody’s favorite), initialisms and acronyms, Latin abbreviations, mispronunciations, a couple of sticklers like lie/lay/laid/lain, and poisonous/venomous, plurals of compound words (is it mothers-in-law or mother-in-laws? Isn’t one sufficient?), time-consuming phrases, and punctuation. We’ll have fun tackling these words (they’re not that big), and we’ll address more than just words—we’ll hit on eponyms, odd punctuation, and even a few Latin expressions, such as e.g., ergo, etc., and i.e. (Did I just say ‘ergo’? If I do that again, smack me.) I know you think you are familiar with these, but despite their ubiquitousness (Smack me for that also.), there might be a few odd rules that pertain to using Latin expressions that you’re not familiar with. It’s worthwhile to learn them (especially if you intend to write).?

It was nine o'clock. The little town of Vauchamp, dark and silent, had just retired to bed amid a chilly November rain. In the Rue des Recollets, one of the narrowest and most deserted streets of the district of Saint-Jean, a single window was still alight on the third floor of an old house, from whose damaged gutters torrents of water were falling into the street. Mme Burle was sitting up before a meager fire of vine stocks, while her little grandson Charles pored over his lessons by the pale light of a lamp.
