On Quiet Nights

There's a place inside us that is cloaked in darkness, rubbed raw with silence. It's a shadow wrapped in a shadow and it screams, but it screams in harsh whispers. This collection explores the blackness within, the gritty underground that hides inside memories and cowers just outside fear. The poems, paired with illustrations from Matthias Matthies work in sync to create a collage of blunt sexuality, masochistic, and sometimes sadistic recollections of love, reflection, and self-exploration.??Lindemann paints pictures with his poems, a slave to the vulnerability and sexuality that drives mankind. His words themselves are body modifications that settle on readers, piercing then slowly penetrating and pumping his audience full with a mix of pleasure and pain. A combination of longing, emotional depth, and bestial intuition, these pieces evoke an innate nature to seek pleasure, to ask for forgiveness, to instill blame. ??On Quiet Nights pulls back the curtains at night and asks readers to think about who they are. Lindemann holds a mirror to soul, capturing desire and need, with the courage to answer some of life's biggest questions: Who am I? What am I? Why am I?

By the time that Tavon had matured, his world consisted of those superior to himself. He would continue to be surrounded by deadly allies who stood to shape him in ways that he couldn’t expect. While partnered with the Meiziki Clan, Tavon vowed to achieve his true potential, to protect his new family as he developed into one of their greatest assets. The Classic Fairytales: Retold for the Stage
¥40.79
Three timeless tales retold for the stage by one of the UK’s most renowned writers of plays for children, Charles Way. Winner of the Writers Guild Best Children’s Play Award, his plays appeal to audiences of all ages and are translated into several languages and performed internationally. Each of the three plays explores the journey from childhood to adulthood, but each takes a specific angle. Sleeping Beauty is driven by the notion of duality. Everyone and everything in the play has a complimentary aspect; King and Queen, Castle and forest, bright witch and dark witch, etc. Gryff, half-dragon, half-human is the physical embodiment of the idea of duality and is at war with himself. This is both dramatic, since it provides the conflict needed for the drama, and thematically rich, since it explores what all of us, but more precisely children, feel as they grow up. Cinderella is a play about a journey from darkness to light, from sickness to health. Everyone in the play is under the influence of some kind of loss, and the play explores these feelings and the sometimes painful route one must take to accommodate them and move on in life. It’s a moving and beautiful play, that also manages to be tremendously funny and the introduction of Mozart as a character, whose music charts the whole journey toward light and joy, is a theatrical coup. Where Cinderella has music at its core, Beauty and the Beast has dance. This is a play about overcoming fear, and the subconscious world is represented through imagery and movement. The play begins with a startling dream sequence and then segues into the drawing-room world of a Jane Austen novel, before moving to the wilds of Dartmoor. Throughout this journey one is never sure if the play is in dreamtime or not, and Way connects this feeling to the very act of theatre itself. As ever, the themes are explored through dramatic action, and the result in Beauty and the Beast is a script of rare brevity that allows actors and directors room to explore the profound nature of the story.
The Scream

The story of a solitary soul living at the end of the world, continuing his daily routine of going to work in a toll booth on the highway. A terrible, mysterious sound that seems to come from nowhere is wiping out the population, and every day fewer and fewer people come by in their cars. But not everyone can hear the sound, and very soon the only survivors will be those few ‘silent ones’ left unharmed. What peculiar power does a stolen painting of Munch's The Scream exert? Why does reality become stranger and indeed crueller than fiction? The Scream begins in the twilight zone of science fiction, taking the reader on a hallucinatory road trip like no other.? Reviews "...?one of his most successful books.?It must be approached like the other books of Graff: do not ask too many question at first reading, be content with being carried away by the style and adventures of the protagonist.?In the end, you will discover that the depth of the book is inversely proportional to its number of pages.?As usual." ***** Goodreads “There is no doubt about it, the writer of?The Scream?is an extravagant and profound story teller.” -- Le Monde des Livres "Laurent Graff's books are crazy, weird, outlandish, which makes them totally indispensable." --www.event.fr "...blends together reality with fiction... what the narrator is really looking for is himself." -- Le Progres ABOUT THE AUTHOR Laurent Graff?is highly-acclaimed French author who ‘cultivates discretion and self-effacement’ and hopes to live as long as he can. His novel?Happy Days?has been translated into 15 languages and Johnny Depp has been trying (and failing) to make it into a film for many years.

The canonical Gospels stand very differently, as respects origin, character and reception, with the Gospels, Acts and Apocalpyses known as ‘Apocryphal.’ These apocryphal writings began to be produced (so far as known) in the second century, mostly in Ebionitic and Gnostic circles, and, with few exceptions, were repudiated and condemned by the Church. Only later, and in modified and expurgated forms, did their stories pass into the general Catholic tradition. The second century seems to have been a perfect hot-bed for the production of this class of writings. The heretical Gospel of the Egyptians is already quoted in 2 Clement (circa a.d. 140). Iren?us speaks of the sect of the Marcosians as adducing ‘an unspeakable number of apocryphal and spurious writings, which they themselves had forged, to bewilder the minds of the foolish,’ and instances the story, found in the Gospel of Thomas, of Jesus confounding the schoolmaster who sought to teach Him His letters (Adv. Haer. i. 20). Later tradition attributed the composition of many of the apocryphal writings (Pseudo-Matthew, Acts of Apostles) to a mythical Leucius, a disciple of the Apostles (cp. art. ‘Leucius,’ Dict. of Christ. Biog.). Eusebius gives a list of spurious and disputed books: ‘That we may have it in our power to know both these books (the canonical) and those that are adduced by the heretics under the name of the Apostles, such, viz., as compose the Gospels of Peter, of Thomas, and of Matthew, and certain others beside these, or such as contain the Acts of Andrew and John, and of the other Apostles, of which no one of those writers in the ecclesiastical succession has condescended to make any mention in his works; and, indeed, the character of the style itself is very different from that of the Apostles, and the sentiments, and the purport of those things that are advanced in them, deviating as far as possible from sound orthodoxy, evidently proves they are the fictions of heretical men; whence they are not only to be ranked among the spurious writings, but are to be rejected as altogether absurd and impious’ (H. E. iii. 25). Only a small part of this extensive literature remains to us, and in no case in its original form, but solely in later, and often much-altered recensions. CrossReach Publications

A Collection of Nightmares

Hold your screams and enter a world of seasonal creatures, dreams of bones, and confessions modeled from open eyes and endless insomnia. Christina Sng’s?A Collection of Nightmares?is a poetic feast of sleeplessness and shadows, an exquisite exhibition of fear and things better left unsaid. Her words are charcoal and cotton, safe yet dressed in an executioner’s garb.?? ?Dream carefully.?? ?You’ve already made your bed.?? ?The nightmares you have now will not be kind.?? ?And you have no one to blame but yourself.

Hard a Tab Nab

Tab nabs were the biscuits dished out in the mess rooms of ships in the merchant navy. If a helmsman was asked if the ship's helm was hard a-starboard or hard a-port, he often would reply, "e;Hard a tab nab, sir."e; Master Mariner J. R. de L. Inniss has spent a lifetime sailing the world's oceans, first as a boy seaman on the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious in the mid 1950s and then working his way up through the ranks of the merchant navy. He saw the great days of British shipping, and was able to adapt to the great changes that transformed the merchant marine during his long career. There were long hours of very hard work, hardly any sleep and, at times, atrocious feeding; but the seafaring life also lived up to its reputation for excitement and adventure, with a good deal of fun and laughter along the way.

With the same affection and humour, her poems cover subjects as diverse as a balloon flight on a glorious summer's evening, the temptations of full-cream milk and sugary treats, the pleasures of chatting, and watching the passage of the seasons from her window.
