本卷编校说明（草稿） 本卷主要收录梁漱溟先生的《东西文化及其哲学》。 此书系根据梁先生1921年8月在山东济南的讲演记录（罗常培笔录），又参酌1920年在北京大学的同题讲演记录（陈政笔录），并由梁先生本人撰写了第五章之后，*终编纂而成。1921年在济南讲演时，曾陆续印发过记录稿，同年10月由北京财政部印刷局印成专书。自1922年1月起，改由上海商务印书馆出版，至1930年先后计发行八版。1987年2月商务印书馆又根据1922年1月本影印出版。 本次编校，以商务1987年影印本为底本，参校山东人民出版社出版的《梁漱溟全集》（2005年）。 商务1987年影印本在正文之外，另有书前《第八版自序》、《附录人心与人生自序》、《东西文化及其哲学三版自序》序言三篇，书后《补遗》一篇、《时论汇录》十篇及《自序》一篇。其中，《附录人心与人生自序》改第七卷《人心与人生》，本卷不再重复收录。其余各篇悉数保留。此外，本卷还收录了《著者告白一》、《著者告白二》及《1980年抄本跋记》（此三篇出处待考），并将梁先生著作中与“东西文化及其哲学”主题密切相关的六篇文章合为一“附录”，附于卷末。
