Guaranteed Not to Be Confusing Don't Ever Be Confused by Grammar Again. Take a "bite" out of Grammar with No Mistakes Grammar Bites. It seems as if many dictionaries and books on grammar do their best to confuse people. Words and explanations are defined using grammatical terminology that is difficult to understand; in fact, if you knew that terminology, you probably wouldn't have to look up the words to begin with. We're aiming to get rid of that and explain things in plain English, using language that is easy to understand. Try it out and see for yourself. If you find these books confusing, write to me and get a refund; they're guaranteed.

Odysseia'n?n MO 800 ila 600 y?llar? aras?nda yaz?ld??? dü?ünülmektedir. Manzum eser ?lyada'n?n devam? niteli?indedir ve Yunan kahraman Odysseus'un Truva'n?n dü?ü?ünden sonra vatan? Truva Destan?nda olaylar birbirini izleyecek ?ekilde anlat?l?r. Halbuki, Odysseia'da olaylar an?lar, geriye d?nü?ler, atlamalarla canland?r?l?r. Bat? dillerindeki Ulysses'nin türedi?i Latince Ulyxes, yi?idin bir Yunan leh?esinden al?nm?? ad?d?r. Odysseus (Ulysses, Ulis), kuzeybat? Yunanistan k?y?lar?n?n kar??s?nda bulunan ?thaca (?thaka, ?thake) adas?nda do?du. Babas?n?n ad? Learthes, anas?n?n ad? Antikleia idi. Odysseus'un gen?li?i, Akhilleus'unki gibi hekim Kheiron'un yan?nda ge?ti. Birgün Odysseus, dedesi Autolykos'a konuk olarak gitti. Babas? Learthes'in o?lunu tahta nas?l ge?irdi?i pek anlat?lmaz. Penelope'u (Penelopeia) istedi. Tyndereos'un ise akl? karmakar???k oldu?undan Odysseus'un bu yakla??m?n? ?nce be?enmedi. Odysseus ise Penelope'u almak i?in ?art?n? s?yledi. Tyndereos'u dü?tü?ü durumdan kurtaracak, buldu?u ??zümle kimse aras?nda kavga olmayacakt?. Bu arada Tyndereos'un k?z?n? türlü prensler, krallar ve sava???lar istiyorlar, türlü hediyeler g?nderiyorlard?. Tyndereos da onlar?n kalplerini k?r?p bir felakete yol a?mamaya ?al???yordu. Sonunda Tyndereos, Penelope'u vermeye raz? olunca Odysseus fikrini s?yledi: Kocas?n? Helena kendisi se?sin ama her kimi se?erse di?er tüm talipliler bunu sorun etmeyecek ve Helena'n?n kendine se?ece?i kocaya her zaman arka ??kmaya ant i?ecekti. Tyndareos, fikri be?endi ve i? k?z?n se?imine b?rak?ld?. ?karios ?nce herkesi yemin etmeye ?a??rd?. Herkes yemin etti, Odysseus dahil. Dünyan?n en güzel k?z? Helena, kocas? olarak Agamemnon'un karde?i Menelaos'u se?ti. Herkes karara sayg? duydu ve kabul etti. Herkes?e edilen bu yemin, ileride on y?l sürecek olan "Truva Sava??"na yol a?acakt?.

Collected by the author over many years, these stories from the Yoga and Zen traditions are the flint and steel that strike a spark that lights up the mind with insights that one should ponder daily to bring to light ever deeper meaning. They may be similar in intent to Zen Koans – but they are rather different in content. In many Zen Koans someone says or does something extraordinarily inappropriate, which catches your attention just because it’s extraordinary –but afterwards the light from them has to be applied to daily life. In contrast, the stories here are often ordinary incidents from ordinary lives (not that there aren’t some extraordinary ones too!) that nevertheless open the mind’s eye to the vast potential for realization and inspiration to be found in daily life. The pictures featured throughout this book were brushed by Jacques Allais in the Suiboku style, in which he was an acknowledged expert. The innate beauty of this ancient monochrome ink-painting technique lies in its subtlety of expression, in which infinitely more is suggested than is drawn on the page – making it the perfect vehicle for focusing meditation practice as well as an ideal complement to the stories in this book.

An incomplete drama based on the life of Demetrius, briefly Russian czar between 1604 and 1605. It is a reflection on the individual's responsibility in history and on the rule of Napoleon.

Strizhin, who normally leads a sober and regular life, comes home from a christening party where he had permitted himself to drink four glasses of vodka and a glass of wine, the taste of which suggested something midway between vinegar and castor oil. And of course spirituous liquors being like sea-water and glory: the more you imbibe of them the greater your thirst, Strizhin felt an overwhelming craving for another drink. He accidentally downed a glass of paraffin instead of vodka, and in desperate search for a doctor at 4 a.m. he found that a doctor is only readily found when he is not wanted.

From the age of eleven until she was eighteen, Jane Austen wrote her tales in three notebooks. The notebooks still exist – one in the Bodleian Library; the other two in the British Museum. They include Love and Freindship, written when Jane was fourteen.

Your outlook on life is so different from mine that I can hardly imagine you being built of the same stuff as myself. Yet I venture to put my difficulty before you. It is, of course, no question of mental grasp or capacity or artistic endowment. I am, so far as these are concerned, merely the man in the street, the averagely endowed and the ordinarily educated. I call myself a Puritan and a Christian. I run continually against walls of convention, of morals, of taste, which may be all wrong, but which I should feel it wrong to climb over. You range over fields where my make-up forbids me to wander.

The convent was situated on a hilltop, and through the green garden the white dresses of the schoolgirls fluttered like the snowy plumage of a hundred doves. Obeying a sudden impulse, a flock of little ones would race through a deluge of leaf-entangled rays towards a pet companion standing at the end of a gravel-walk examining the flower she has just picked, the sunlight glancing along her little white legs proudly and charmingly advanced. The elder girls in their longer skirts were more dignified, but when they caught sight of a favourite sister, they too ran forward, and then retreated timidly, as if afraid of committing an indiscretion.

Wilhelm goes through deep self-realisation and decides to escape his empty life of a bourgeois businessman. After a failed romance with the theatre, Wilhelm commits himself to the mysterious Tower Society. A coming-of-age tale, a story of education and disillusionment, a novel of ideas ranging across literature, philosophy and politics, a masterpiece that resists all pigeonholing.

Ivanhoe is the story of one of the remaining Saxon noble families at a time when the nobility in England was overwhelmingly Norman. It follows the Saxon protagonist, Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe, who is out of favour with his father for his allegiance to the Norman king Richard the Lionheart.

The art of Medicine would not have been invented at first, nor would it have been made a subject of investigation (for there would have been no need of it), if when men are indisposed, the same food and other articles of regimen which they eat and drink when in good health were proper for them, and if no others were preferable to these. But now necessity itself made medicine to be sought out and discovered by men, since the same things when administered to the sick, which agreed with them when in good health, neither did nor do agree with them.

Life is short, and Art long; the crisis fleeting; experience perilous, and decision difficult. The physician must not only be prepared to do what is right himself, but also to make the patient, the attendants, and externals cooperate.

De Profundis is a letter written by Oscar Wilde during his imprisonment. In the letter Wilde considers events leading to his conviction and discusses his spiritual development in prison and identification with Jesus Christ, whom he characterises as a romantic, individualist artist.

The book presents the concept of representative government, the ideal form of government. Mill suggests that representative bodies such as parliaments and senates are best suited to be places of public debate on the various opinions held by the population and to act as watchdogs of the professionals who create and administer laws and policy.

Fingerprints. A single print, being unique - not even identical twins have the same fingerprints - that single print found in the right place at the right time is sufficient to disclose the perpetrator of a crime. ? Actually, there are those who claim that identifying and matching fingerprints is not sufficiently scientific and so the fingerprint doesn't carry the weight in court that it did only a decade ago. DNA is now the sexy evidence. ? In The Red Thumbmark by R Austin Freeman, published in 1907, a single fingerprint is found at the scene of a crime. When the police are able to identify that fingerprint, the case seems closed. ? But Dr Thorndyke, the detective/barrister/medical doctor who takes on defense of this suspect, thinks he can disprove the prosecution's case, based on that same fingerprint. ? It does not take Dr Thorndyke to figure out who the criminal is. The mystery in this wonderful detective tale is who the lovely heroine is in love with. The answer may surprise you.
