Person-Centered Techniques put You Back in Control of Your Destiny Metapsychology is the science of human nature and experience as viewed by you--the one who experiences--from the inside out, not by an outside "expert" trying to look in. The methods of "Applied Metapsychology" recognize you as the authority at the center of your world of experience, and provide tools to enable you to improve personal relationships, increase personal power, and fashion your world into the loving, fascinating, and fulfilling place you always wanted it to be. Readers of this book will learn... ·The principles and methodology of Applied Metapsychology, a truly effective method for understanding yourself, your own mind, and your world of experience. ·The principles of Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), a technique for resolving the traumatic incidents that build upon each other to produce a network of distress that can lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) . ·Specific other techniques to help you address the issues which concern you most--relationships, job satisfaction, and unwanted emotions such as grief and anger. ·A systematic method of case-planning for designing coherent and effective strategies for achieving these ends in a relatively short period of time. Acclaim for Beyond Psychology "Beyond Psychology deserves to be widely known, studied and applied. A new synthesis is now possible." -- Lewis H. Gann, Ph.D., Senior Fellow, Hoover Institution, Stanford University "Metapsychology represents a new and effective way of 'viewing' ourselves, our worlds, and our relationships with each other." -- Jerry S. Davis, Ed.D., Vice President for Research, Lumina Foundation for Education (retired) "Not in 30+ years of clinical practice have I found a more straight-to-the-core and consistently successful approach." -- Robert H. Moore, Ph.D., former Director Institute for Rational-Emotive Therapy Clearwater, Florida "Stimulating and helpful... especially the section on Traumatic Incident Reduction... will contribute a great deal to change for the better." -- Robert A Harper, Ph.D., Book Review Editor Journal of Rational-Emotive & Cognitive-Behavior Therapy For more information please visit www.TIRBook.com From Applied Metapsychology International Press PSY045020 Psychology : Movements - Humanism PSY022040 Psychology : Psychopathology - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder SEL031000 Self-Help : Personal Growth
Lost in My Mind:Recovering From Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Lost in My Mind:Recovering From Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Kelly Bouldin Darmofal
¥65.99
Lost in My Mind is a stunning memoir describing Kelly Bouldin Darmofal's journey from adolescent girl to special education teacher, wife and mother -- despite severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Spanning three decades, Kelly's journey is unique in its focus on TBI education in America (or lack thereof). Kelly also abridges her mother's journals to describe forgotten experiences. She continues the narrative in her own humorous, poetic voice, describing a victim's relentless search for success, love, and acceptance -- while combating bureaucratic red tape, aphasia, bilateral hand impairment, and loss of memory. Readers will: · Learn why TBI is a "silent illness" for students as well as soldiers and athletes. · Discover coping strategies which enable TBI survivors to hope and achieve. · Experience what it's like to be a caregiver for someone with TBI. · Realize that the majority of teachers are sadly unprepared to teach victims of TBI. · Find out how relearning ordinary tasks, like walking, writing, and driving require intense determination. "This peek into the real-life trials and triumphs of a young woman who survives a horrific car crash and struggles to regain academic excellence and meaningful social relationships is a worthwhile read for anyone who needs information, inspiration or escape from the isolation so common after traumatic brain injury." -- Susan H. Connors, President/CEO, Brain Injury Association of America "Kelly Bouldin Darmofal's account is unique, yet widely applicable: she teaches any who have suffered TBI--and all who love, care for, and teach them--insights that are not only novel but revolutionary. The book is not simply worth reading; it is necessary reading for patients, poets, professors, preachers, and teachers." -- Dr. Frank Balch Wood, Professor Emeritus of Neurology-Neuropsychology, Wake Forest School of Medicine Learn more at www.ImLostInMyMind.com From the Reflections of America Series at Modern History Press www.ModernHistoryPress.com

Wolf Messing:The True Story of Russia`s Greatest Psychic
Wolf Messing:The True Story of Russia`s Greatest Psychic
Tatiana Lungin
¥90.03
In this, the first biography and personal memoir of WOLF MESSING to appear in the West, Tatiana Lungin limns a revealing portrait of one of the greatest psychic performers of the twentieth century. Born a Polish Jew near Warsaw, Messing ran away from home at the age of eleven and soon discovered his psychic gifts. Supporting himself by performing mind-reading acts in Berlin theaters, at fourteen Messing was sold by his unscrupulous manager to the famous Busch Circus. In no time Wolf gained an international reputation as the world’s greatest telepath as he toured the capitals of Europe. In Vienna Messing met Albert Einstein who brought him to the apartment of another admirer of his abilities, Sigmund Freud. His touring days ended abruptly in 1937 when, after Messing publicly predicted the downfall of the Third Reich, the Nazis placed a sizable bounty on his head. Summoning all his hypnotic powers, he escaped capture by the Gestapo and fled to Russia. In the USSR Messing’s displays of telepathy, uncannily accurate predictions, and psychic crime solving gained him a rare celebrity status. While most parapsychologists were forced to conduct psychic research in secrecy, Messing thrilled audiences in packed theaters across the country. His fame was all the more amazing coming as it did in the Marxist society dominated by Joseph Stalin, the man who had officially abolished ESP. Even Stalin himself was intrigued by Wolf’s ability to influence thoughts at a distance, and devised a number of unusual tests of Messing’s powers. The stories of how Messing successfully took on Stalin’s challenges to hypnotically elude his personal security force, and even commit psychic bank robbery, are colorfully related. As Messing’s longtime friend and confidante, Lungin draws from personal notes, conversations with Wolf, and reports of other eyewitnesses of his performances to chronicle Messing’s incredible life and career. At the same time, she provides an inside look at parapsychology and psychic research behind the Iron Curtain.

Did you know that an average person has around 130,000 strands of hair on their head? Can you imagine what happens when you do not take care of all these strands? Wayne Rooney is a professional footballer that underwent a hair transplant. A hair transplant is the right way for fixing hair loss, but guess what? It can cost you an arm and a leg! Scientists have discovered that overuse of commercial shampoos can cause deadly hair loss problems. Let us do an easy five-minute procedure that will end up making a nice smelling, cheap, natural and reliable shampoo. Making one's hair oily has a lot of reasons behind it. Most commercial shampoos are acidic, denuding your hair glands that produce natural oils. To resolve this issue, you have to go organic. The benefits that come with an oily hair include having a natural protective substance - the natural hair oil. If you do not have an oily hair, there is no cause for alarm. The variations seen between oily and non-oily hair mostly result from genetics. The shampoo moisturizes and softens greasy hair. It also protects the hair against the environment, especially harsh sunlight. Do you want to save money? If you yes, then you can make your natural shampoo that's way better than most expensive commercial shampoos. Here is how.

A Proposed Treatment Connection for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
A Proposed Treatment Connection for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Ashley Doyle
¥24.44
A large percentage of the population experiences some type of trauma in their lifetime; however, they don't all develop a diagnosable disorder. Even though no research can definitively predict what types of traumas will elicit a diagnosable disorder, there has been some indication as to who is more at risk for the development of trauma-related disorders, specifically Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Yet other disorders may also be elicited such as anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, or personality disorders. Children, the elderly, and the disabled are labeled at-risk due to their dependency on others, sparse coping strategies and resources, and economic disadvantages. Additionally, individuals who experience extra stressors, low-self esteem, and have a poor sense of self are also at risk of developing a disorder rather than use resiliency (Petersen & Walker, 2003). One extreme reaction to trauma exposure is the elicitation of a personality disorder, specifically Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The focus of this paper is three-fold. First, it compares two treatment approaches: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR). These are different in technique and philosophy when regarding the processing of traumatic events. Second, it reviews the evidence for co-morbidity (simultaneous occurrence) between BPD and PTSD. Finally, this paper will propose a strategic plan for the most effective treatment for individuals with BPD and PTSD symptoms. Metapsychology Monographs #8 Learn more at www.TIRbook.com

Events around the world continue to present challenges for first responders and mental health professionals. Natural and man-made disasters continue. Evidence mounts concerning potential events such as global warming and the effects this may have worldwide. Avian Flu remains a concern as do forms of biological terrorism and natural hazards such as tsunamis, floods, hurricanes and earthquakes. The 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka and Thailand continues to have a significant impact on that area of the world. Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq continue to impact those countries, the Middle East and the United States. Preparing our communities and families not only for deployments and support of those deployed and their families, but also for the aftermath and return of our military and National Guard personnel into our communities is important for all. What can we expect from all of these? How do communities and first responders handle these? What role does mental health play? How do first responders and mental health professionals plan together for responding to future events and learning from past ones. Using a strategic planning approach, how do we identity potential threats and identify target populations and groups? What resources are available for which identified threats? How do we do such planning, how often, and how do we exercise such plans prior to events? What can we learn from such events and how do we incorporate what we learn into future planning? It is crucial that response, resilience, recovery and follow-up be included in our planning. Additional variables important in responding include cultural knowledge and sensitivity. We need to prepare to respond appropriately within a culture not our own, whether locally, nationally, or internationally. November 8-10, 2007, the Rocky Mountain Region Disaster Mental Health Institute held their Annual Disaster Mental Health Conference in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
